Strategic
Partners
The National
Association of Women in Construction has formal partnering agreements
with more than 15 organizations throughout the United States. Our
local NAWIC Atlanta Chapter #49 also has partnering agreements with
several local associations. NAWIC's future success requires working
with and through other organizations to achieve our core purpose
of enhancing the success of women in the construction industry.
American
Institute of Constructors (AIC) This partnership
involves education and the need for NAWIC members to develop professional
credentials such as construction practitioner. It encourages women
construction professionals to join NAWIC and AIC and seek professional
constructor certification.
American
Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) This
partnering agreement seeks to mutually promote construction to women,
and in particular, to promote careers in the road and transportation
building field. Both associations agree to promote each other and
help obtain new members. Each organization also pledges to work
within its chapters to create an awareness for both associations.
American
Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) This partnership
promotes the groups' concern of enhancing the role of women's business
enterprises and the profession of estimating in the construction
industry through an open and free exchange of experiences, resources
and technical information.
American
Subcontractors Association (ASA) The intent of this partnership
is to promote the construction industry and the role of women within
it; develop more
women-owned construction companies and thus create productive jobs;
and improve the industry image among young people, educators, career
counselors and parents.
Associated
Builders and Contractors (ABC) ABC and NAWIC have partnered
to help increase the number of women employed in the skilled trades.
ABC's educational programs help reach this goal. NAWIC and ABC plan
to work together to develop a diversity training program.
Associated
General Contractors of America (AGC) This partnership seeks
to improve communication and career opportunities; promote skills,
integrity and
responsibility in the industry; promote joint meetings; increase
the number of women in the trades; and jointly support programs
and activities that integrate women into the construction industry.
Atlanta
Women's Alliance (AWA) The intent of this partnership
is to provide a forum for women's and girls' organizations coming
together to maximize their individual and collective potential.
AWA serves as a catalyst for enhanced communication, cooperation
and collaboration among participating organizations to increase
opportunities for the benefit of women and girls in metro Atlanta.
Construction
Education Foundation of Georgia (CEFGA)This partnership
is intended to assist in being the link between construction students
and the construction industry in Georgia. Through the partnership,
NAWIC assists in ensuring students are learning relevant skills
in quality construction programs. The partnership promotes careers
in construction.
Construction
Financial Management Association (CFMA) The agreement intends
for the two associations to jointly support programs and activities
that will have a significant impact on the successful integration
of women into the construction industry.
Federal
Highway Administration (FHWA) This partnership requires
both groups to mutually promote the role of women in the construction
industry. Both entities will seek to stimulate an interest in construction
careers among the general public to attract America's youth to a
career in construction.
Greater
Atlanta Economic Alliance (GAEA) This partnership seeks
to build capacity, capability and opportunity for small, female
and minority owned enterprises within the construction industry.
The partnership provides technical assistance and information to
inform small, minority, women-owned and disadvantaged businesses.
The Alliance educates businesses on how to participate on upcoming
and available procurement and contracting opportunities that exist
with the Airport, the City of Atlanta, MARTA and other regional
projects.
International
Code Council (ICC) With this partnership, the groups work
together to promote the industry, the profession of code enforcement
and the role of women within both. Both groups will share knowledge,
publications and other information beneficial to the other organization.
National
Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER)
This partnership gives NAWIC members greater opportunities to enhance
their
professional development by furthering their knowledge in the areas
of craft training, management education, safety and industry research.
This partnership seeks to help improve the image of the construction
industry.
National
Society of Professional Engineers The "Memorandum of
Understanding" between these two entities was written to help
each group cooperate in a mutually beneficial manner promoting certification
among engineering technicians and other non-licensed support personnel
in the construction industry.
NAWIC
Education Foundation (NEF) This partnership provides the
opportunity for NAWIC and NEF to work more closely together to meet
the continuing education and certification needs of women employed
in the construction industry.
Society
for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) The objectives
of the two associations include improving ethics and the professional
image of the construction industry. Together, these groups will
support and provide continuing education for professionals in the
construction industry and develop and market professional materials
and programs. For local informaton visit the Georgia

The Surety Association
of America (SAA) In this partnering agreement, SAA and NAWIC
will work to increase access to surety bonding by small, minority
and women contractors. SAA hopes to increase awareness of, and participation
in, the surety industry by highly motivated women already involved
in the construction industry.
U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) This partnership seeks to
invest in the future by promoting education, research and development.
It was formed to help involve women in the Corps and to work together
to enhance professionalism and integrity in the industry.
U.S.
Department of Labor, Women's Bureau This partnership is
intended to advance the interest of women in construction and to
foster the growth of women in all aspects of the industry. This
partnership encourages NAWIC members to work with all the DOL agencies:
Women's Bureau, Employment and Training Administration, Occupational
Safety & Health Administration, Office of Small Business; and
Minority Affairs.
U.S.
Small Business Administration (SBA) This agreement encourages
NAWIC chapters to work with SBA district offices to provide better
opportunities and train women entrepreneurs. Overall, this partnership
will help NAWIC members start businesses and enhance them through
SBA information, resources and workshops.
Women
Build of Habitat for Humanity International The agreement
encourages the organizations' mutual concern of building and renovating
houses for people in need. NAWIC chapters should work with local
Women Build/Habitat programs to build houses and lives, and in turn
market both organizations.
Women's
Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) This partnership
seeks to promote and enhance the role of women's business enterprises
in the
construction industry. WBENC will help certify women business owners
so they can more readily obtain work with federal, state and local
governments.
Women
Work! The National Network for Women's Employment The goal
of this agreement is for NAWIC chapters to get involved with local
Women Work! programs to help bring under-employed and unemployed
women into the construction industry. This partnership also advances
efforts to recruit and train women for high-wage, high-growth, nontraditional
occupations.
