The Atlanta
Construction Visionary Awards Banquet (ACVA)
If
I knew Then What I Know Now
The
Construction Visionary Awards Banquet was an idea that started on
the national level as the Crystal Vision Awards Program. This was
established by NAWIC Past National President Susan Levy in 1995.
The program recognizes individuals who promote the role of women
in construction through initiatives, policies or legislation. The
Crystal Vision Award recognizes a nonmember of NAWIC, and the Crystal
Achievement Award recognizes a member of the Association. Since
the first visionaries were selected in 1995, this one-of-a-kind
program has not only fulfilled its purpose of recognizing exemplary
leaders in the industry, it has developed a reputation for honoring
individuals who are committed to building a diverse work force amidst
the demanding backdrops of the industry today.
In 2000, the Atlanta Chapter of NAWIC implemented the Atlanta Construction
Visionary Award Banquet. The Atlanta Construction Visionary Awards
traditionally recognizes women for their outstanding achievements
and significant contributions to promoting, expanding and encouraging
the roles of women in the construction and design industry. Previous
honorees have included: Nancy Juneau, Juneau Construction Company;
Roberta "Bobbie" Unger, FAIA, The Architecture Group;
Lori Goerhing, Excalibur Drilling; Helen Davis Hatch, AIA, Thompson
Ventulett Stain back & Associates; Carol Richard, AIA, LEED
AP, Richard Wittschiebe Hand; Kathy Fetters, Kajima USA; Loretta
Easton, Lane Investment & Development; Pam Sessions, Hedgewood
Properties; and Vikki McReynolds, Georgia Utility Contractors Association.
All
of these women have compelling stories to tell and this year's event
will have an exciting twist. Some of these past recipients will
return to share their personal experiences. They will reflect on
"If I Knew Then, What I Know Now"; the theme for the 2010
Atlanta Construction Visionary Awards. In the spirit of a famous
Broadway play that show cased a host of dynamic women delivering
monologues, our featured guest speakers will do the same. We will
celebrate their accomplishments as industry professionals as they
take us through their journey of experiences and wisdom gained along
the way, expressed in monologues of their own creation.
