Welcome
to NAWIC Atlanta Chapter #49. We are just one of 161 Chapters
throughout the U.S and 5 International Chapters who make up the
National Association of Women in Construction. Our core purpose
is to enhance the success of women in the construction industry.
By "construction industry" we mean every facet; this
includes project managers, architects, engineers, administrative
assistants, receptionists, tradeswomen, comptrollers, accounts
payables and receivables, construction attorney's, and insurance
companies, to name a few. We offer a wide variety of programs
to ensure that the interests of every member are covered.
In
addition to offering numerous educational opportunities to our
members, we hold several industry related competitions for children
of all ages in an effort to encourage them to pursue a career
in the construction industry.
NAWIC
relies on member volunteers for leadership. The Board of Directors
is voted into office by the membership. They are here to represent
the members and all members are encouraged to contact any officer
or director to share ideas. If you have an idea to enhance our
appeal to more women in the industry we want to hear it. It is
our goal to provide members with educational programs, seminars,
and workshops to help you succeed in your professional endeavors.
Our
monthly meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month, unless
otherwise noted, from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Georgia Tech Hotel
and Conference Center on Spring Street, Atlanta. The meetings
include a half hour networking opportunity, a sit down dinner
and an industry related topic presentation.
I
encourage you to take advantage of the many volunteer opportunities
we have by joining or chairing a committee. Participating in the
numerous committees offers more opportunities to network and expand
your career connections. Our chapter is strong and appealing because
of the drive of our volunteers who had visions on what was needed
by our members and how to meet the professional needs of our members.
The various programs and educational opportunities offered are
a result of these member visions.
I look forward to seeing you at our meetings.
